Maximize product yields, maintain product consistency and quality
Spiral wound membranes from Veolia cover a wide spectrum of technologies (reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, microfiltration) and are constructed to meet the demands many applications:
- Concentrate and demineralize organics (sugars, proteins, whey)
- Purify and recycle process streams (acids, dyes, bio-chemicals)
- Recover valuables (metals, minerals, salts)
- Remove salt (TDS) and organics from water for purified water applications
Sprial Wound Membrane Features
Veolia custom designs membrane elements to operate effectively in challenging environments, including extreme pHs, temperatures from 40° to 158° Fahrenheit (5° to 70° Celsius), oil-contaminated streams, and highly viscous solutions.
Examples include:
- Hot water sanitizable membranes to reduce contamination and lower operating costs
- High pressure and high-temperature constructions to improve recovery and reduce cooling requirements
- Hydrophilic membranes for oil/water separations
- Sanitary elements to meet FDA regulations
H Series BWRO membrane elements delivering differentiated value in drinking and wastewater treatment
Veolia H Series BWRO membrane elements have been designed to address the growing market focus on high quality permeates, system cost of ownership and water reuse policies and regulations that have resulted in more challenging RO feeds.
High Rejection Performance:
- Tighter rejection range for all elements in the series delivers highest quality permeate for critical applications.
- Results in longer life, less maintenance, and lower operating costs for downstream equipment, such as EDI, resin, or high-pressure boilers.
Low Energy Performance:
- Low energy/high rejection elements (AK H & AG LE H) provide a solution for balancing the need for low permeate TDS and the need to reduce energy consumption.
- Optimizes 2nd pass RO to achieve lowest TDS in the permeate and lowest costs associated with energy consumption.
Fouling Resistant Performance:
- Fouling resistant elements that maintain rejection and pressure performance in the presence of high TDS and high BOD/COD.
- Results in long lasting element with sustained performance in challenging applications.

Nanofiltration (NF) Membranes
The Veolia family of nanofiltration (NF) membranes is optimized with flux and rejection ideal for a wide range of process separations, concentrations, and water treatment applications. Divalent and multivalent ions are preferentially rejected by the membrane, while monovalent passage is dependent on feed concentration and composition. The membranes are available in an assortment of robust constructions designed to perform in extreme conditions.
Dairy DK
Dairy DK, or dairy processing, NF membrane elements are used in food-related processes requiring stringent sanitary procedures. Typical applications include deacidification and demineralization of whey or UF permeate and lactose desalting.
Dairy DL
Dairy DL, or dairy processing, NF membrane elements are used in food-related processes requiring stringent sanitary procedures. Typical applications include deacidification and demineralization of whey or UF permeate and lactose desalting.
DK
DK high rejection NF elements generally are used for dye removal/concentration, metals recovery, sodium chloride diafiltration, sulfate removal, and bio-chemical purification.
DL
The DL series comprises industrial high flow NF membrane elements. Typical applications include dye removal/concentration, sodium chloride diafiltration, metals recovery, and bio-chemical purification.
Duracon
The Duracon NF membrane elements are engineered for use in food-related processes requiring stringent sanitary procedures and customarily are used for processing sugar solutions in food-related processes. Typical applications for the Duracon NF1 series include demineralization, deacidification, and sugar concentration. Typical applications for the Duracon NF2 series include mono-saccharides purification
HL
The HL series of NF membrane elements have a molecular weight cut-off of 150-300. Typical applications are water softening, partial water softening in municipal and industrial markets, color removal, and reduction of THM formation potential.
Muni NF
The Muni NF provides a cost effective and low pressure nanofiltration alternative to standard reverse osmosis treatment. Typical application is municipal drinking water plants. Performance is characterized by hardness reduction, colour removal, and organic pollutants reduction (such as the precursors to THM).
Seawater Sulphate Removal (SWSR)
The SWSR NF-series membrane features a 300 Dalton molecular weight cut-off and is an absolute barrier for any suspended matter including particles, colloidal silica, and bacterial matters. The SWSR membrane is recognized for its low fouling properties and is designed to produce consistently low sulfate water for injection.
Vinopro
Vinopro nanofiltration membrane elements are characterized by an approximate molecular weight cutoff of 150-300 Dalton for uncharged organic molecules. Typically used for grape sugars concentration, oak extract fractionation, alcohol and acidity reduction, and wine adjustment.
Applications
Nanofiltration membranes are used in a variety of applications such as:
- Lactose/ Whey Demineralization
- Sugar Processing
- Maple Syrup Processing
- Wine Processing & Alcohol Adjustment
